My Little Shadow
by Catrina K.........................................
I can still remember the day I got you and your brothers. I found homes for two of them while you stayed with me. You were so sweet. Your black and white fur was the shiniest I had ever seen on a cat. I must admit I didn't know how far you would wiggle your way into my heart.

I wasn't too keen on letting a cat share my bed, but somehow you got in my room one night and I woke up to a very warm back pressing against mine. I felt around and when I looked behind me, you turned your head as if to say, "Hi there!" From that night on you slept next to me. Whenever I would move, you settled in wherever you could find enough room, but always snug against me.

One day I was sick. You curled up in my lap and refused to leave my side. Finally though, you got to be to hot for me to let you remain there. All I had to do was tell you, "I'm sorry baby, but you have to get down, you are just too hot." You got down and curled up at my feet instead. You never left me for a moment. I never got to properly thank you, so I'll say it here. "Thank you my precious fur-angel."

Then one day, our lives changed. We had some friends come to stay for a while. They had an old ugly looking dog, which you didn't like at all. It was also the first time I had ever heard you hiss. I begged them time and time again to watch out when they opened the outside door because you liked to dart out. But they didn't respect my wishes. You got out and I lost a furry friend. I took your crossing the Rainbow Bridge hard.

Although you have been gone for three years, at times, I still cry for my loss. Our time together was all too short.

I know that where you are at, some little girl is taking care of you for me. I miss you dearly my little fur-boy. My little darling, Shadow.
