Dandy
by Carol B..........................................
Dandy was the kindest dog you would ever meet. She was adopted from a leader dog training school. She was meant to be a leader dog but she couldn't handle loud noises. Dandy came into our lives in 1989 at the age of two or three.
She was absolutely incredible and so gentle. For years were participated in animal rescue and rehabilitation for racoons, opposums, rabbits and birds. She would lay on the floor and cuddle with the baby animals, even the birds. She had a mothering instinct. On one occasion, someone dumped two kittens at our house and they hid under our deck. Dandy refused to come in the house and kept trying to get under the deck. When we looked, there were two baby kittens, abandoned and lost. She would not leave them behind.
She was such an awesome dog. Dandy was very well behaved, although she could slip at times. At my sister's 16th birthday party, we set her cake on the coffee table, which was at Dandy's level. one of the guests commented on how well beaved Dandy was, not to touch the cake. Well, my mother and I looked over and saw Dandy sneak up to the cake, she took one quick lick of the frosting and hurried back off. No one else saw but it was so funny. We could have never known, she was so smart to know just to take a small lick, not to be noticed.
Her love and kindness continued for many years. She was the only dog that I have ever seen cats love, trust and cuddle with. We spoiled her with love and attention to the best of our abilities. One July day in 1999, she passed on. I know that she is happy now and safe.
Dandy, we love you so much; you were a wonderful dog and we will always miss you!
