My Kandy Cane
by Josh Carey
To everyone who has lost their furry friends, i sympathize with you and can say i honestly know what youre going through. My cat of 10 years was just recently lost on March 25th, 2003 due to a sudden seizure and a bacterial infection in his stomach. This was so unexpected, he was active, playful, and everything just the day before. Periodical checkups to his favorite vet showed no signs of anything wrong, other than the common old age symptoms for cats. Something so sudden was never anticipated. I had found my cat laying lifeless in my mothers room, crying. This wasnt normal, my cat could never really let out a meow. He would open his mouth, but no sound. So this was very alarming to me. I gently picked up my cat, trying to calm him, and hurried him into the kitchen. I put him in a cat carrier, which was normally a very big trouble, but he gave no resistence. I cried my eyes out, and still do. I rushed my cat to a nearby vets office, only to hear the horrible news; my Kandy had a bacterial infection in his stomach and had a seizure. My companion, friend, ears to listen to my problems when i needed to talk, soft soul to calm me through my times of need, and just someone there for me was hurting. He was crying and looking at me with those big brown eyes; his eyes just spoke to me in more ways than words ever could. We had to put him to sleep. I miss my Kandy sooo much. I had more memories with that cat than with any of my friends. But it was the best thing to do for him, not to have him suffer, but to let him go peacefully and not hurting. I miss my cat soo much, and in losing him, i lost a peice of myself. I miss you Kandy cane!!
