Oh Elvis,
You'll be so missed, by the kids and by me. We brought you home in the Spring of 1987, just a goofy eight week old kitten. You witnessed many comings and goings of pets in the household, going from a childless family to that of a five child home! You witnessed the interesting separation and divorce of the old, male boss in the family...and we made it over 14 years together!
Your sweet tabby face, stubby tail and very expressive speaking voice will be truly missed. I loved the way you liked to crawl into the bathtub with the kids for a drink of water, all the way up to your furry belly. The way you surprised houseguests when you "sharpened" your toes (minus the claws) on their shoes, against their shoelaces, it tickled! You are so cool.
You passed away after a rough spell of four days, not sure if it was the heat that affected you, your age or some other unknown disorder; we'll never know, you left your body as I was driving you to the doctor's office this Monday afternoon...in the front seat, next to me. We didn't make it to the doctor's office.
I buried you this afternoon, you've passed when the kids have left for their summer visit with their dad. I made it a point to place your old body in a shady spot that they'd approve of, so they can mourn your passing and pay their respects to you anytime they miss you. As I will, anytime I miss you...
You've provided years of companionship, laughter and sweet moments to me, Elvis. Thank you for being a part of my life. I will miss you tremendously.
In my version of Heaven, "My Heaven", you'll be there waiting for me, along with Lucy, Dodger and Sydney. Tell them I miss them and look forward to seeing you all again. Be happy and finally well.
Farewell, Elvis, my special cool cat.
