Dear Mommy and Daddy,
It's hard to believe that it has been 6 years since I had to leave you. I'm so glad you found out about Rainbows Bridge after Barney joined me. Glad he wrote to you right a way so that you know we're okay. It makes it easier for me to write to you. I know everyone here now. We all share in the memories, stories and poems you write about us. It makes our little hearts warm to know that you loved us so much. But we also see the pain and hurt you have from not having us there with you. It makes our little hearts sad. We decided to put our heads together and write a letter to help you. So although I write it, it's from all of us at Rainbows Bridge. There's a secret place in Rainbows Bridge that God calls Newborn Sanctuary. It's full of all kinds of newborns eagerly waiting for God to send them to Earth. It may be hard for some to understand why we would ever want to leave Rainbows Bridge but we all do because of you. We want to love and be loved by you and some day to share this beautiful place with a special human or humans. God promises us that we will have you. But for us to meet you, we have to come to Earth. You see, we are born in Heaven first and then we have our earthly birth. It's very exciting watching all the newborns so young, ready to start their new lives. It makes us remember ourselves at that time. Most of us come to Earth and find happy homes. Some have it rough and are adopted or rescued. Somewell, some
Let me tell you a story about an old man here. Every day he goes to Newborn Sanctuary and looks at the babies. Every day he says the same thing. That he never had a fur baby in his long life because he was allergic to us. He's not now of course and we all play with him. One day he saw a special newborn. A cute golden retriever puppy. It was love at first sight for the two of them. And God noticed. In fact, God delayed sending the little puppy to Earth because of the love he saw between those two. When it came time to send the puppy to Earth, God told the old man and let him pet the puppy. But the man's hand went right through the puppy as if it didn't exist. And in a way it didn't because only by being born on Earth could the newborn be whole. Several hours after the puppy left, God shuddered. He went to the old man and asked if he'd do Him a favor. A new resident would be arriving at the Bridge soon. Unfortunately the new resident didn't have a human to meet him and there wouldn't be any human to join him later. Normally God would be there because no one comes to Rainbows Bridge without someone to meet them. But God asked the old man if he would meet the new arrival. The old man got to the Bridge early and decided to sit down and take a nap. Suddenly he woke up to a wet tongue kissing his face. When he opened his eyes, he was looking at the little golden retriever puppy who had died shortly after his earthly birth. It was sad that he didn't get a chance to experience Earth, but he had gone there to find a human as God promised he would. And he did.
Then there's Sasha. What a cat!!! I swear, she must have been spun from gold. And what a nice tall fluffy tail. You can always tell it's her. Her time on Earth was very tragic though. Not all of us find nice humans. When she returned to Rainbow's Bridge, God was there to meet her. She wasn't angry or even upset. She looked up at God with those big beautiful green eyes and said, I didn't find a special human. I wasn't special to a human. As they started to cross the Bridge, Sasha asked God what Christmas was like on Earth. She had died on Christmas Eve. Well, God said, it's a time of many happy things. One of which is getting a special gift. Something you really want. Let me explain it to you in another way. Turn around, God said. Sasha turned around and looked back at the Bridge's entry. What she saw was a little girl of about 10 years old running as fast as she could calling out, My pussycat! My pussycat, I finally got MY pussycat for Christmas!
So you see, God keeps his promise to us. All we have to do is go to Earth and we will all have someone special to share Rainbows Bridge with. It's a good deal. We never know how long we will be on Earth or what will happen there. We just know that we must go there to find you. Eventually God calls us home one by one. I know you wish He didn't have to but He has to. There's something we want you all to do. It's going to be hard. It's really a hard thing for us to ask. But maybe you can do it for us. It would really mean a lot. Whenever you think of us and get sad, cry, feel that your heart is aching so muchtry and envision Newborn Sanctuary and give a little wink or smile. It'll make you feel better. Think of how our little eyes sparkled with joy when God told us about finding ourselves special humans. We are very thankful for having done so. We can now rest knowing we fulfilled our purpose of being such good fur babies. The newborns will know when you wink or smile. It really gets them excited to know that they too will get their human. And a little P.S.-God has other secrets and surprises waiting. We're not going to tell you what they are. We have to save something for when you get here. But let me tell you this. It's a good deal. God told us. And God keeps his promise.
