"Acts of Kindness"
by Donna Belliveau
"Acts of Kindness" by Donna C. Belliveau When I was cold and lonely and nobody wanted me, You took me in and saved me, and I thank you, gratefully. So, Ill stand here right beside you each and every single day And do my best to keep you safe and not get in your way. The only things I really want, if given any choice, Is your kind hand upon my head and just to hear your voice. So, Ill sit right here beside you, as you read or watch TV, And when you speak my name, you know Ill wag contentedly. And, if youre in any danger, Ill defend you with my life, For you kept me warm and fed me, and relieved me of my strife. So, Ill lie right here beside you and watch over as you sleep, And youll never have to worry; you are safely in my keep. But theres one thing I need to know, and you must promise me, That when my time with you is up, youll help to set me free. Please stay there right beside me and hold me til the end, In your final act of kindness, let me go, my faithful friend. Copyright 2003 Donna C. Belliveau
