Oh boy, for starters, I did not want a pitbull what so ever, but my husband did. After work one day he tells me he wants me and the kids to go meet a little puppy. We get there and it is a pitbull puppy, and my heart just grew bigger that day. He was the cutest, fattest, most adorable, happy-go-lucky puppy I had ever seen. He was so chunky he couldn't even make it up the steps because his belly got in the way, and he ran around with all the little beagles out there. Boy he was so clumbsy then. Of course we had to take him home right then and there!!! On the way home in the truck, he took right up with me and laid right on my neck the entire way home. As anyone knows, it take a bit to come up with a name, so after a few days we came up with Dozer. It came from the fact that at anytime at all, he would just fall smack asleep. He would fall asleep when he was eating, when he was chewing on a rawhide and his favorite thing was when we all went to bed!!! Then as he grew older he took on the "bullDOZER" effect. Everything he ran into, he bulldozed right over. Boy, I didnt think he would stop growing. He finally stopped at a whopping 110 lbs. That is 110lbs of lapdog. Dozer would ease himself up on my lap and roll over, he was just about as big as me, and i would rub his belly, then he would fall asleep and start snoring. Man, I just love this big baby.
Well, time goes by and a man comes by and tells me how he loves my dogs and would love to breed him with his female. I thought about it and finally agreed to it as long as I was able to keep a puppy and also interview the new homes for the puppies. The agreement was made. Well, it was no problem for Icis to get pregnant, but unfortunately, her people had to move. They asked us to take care of her during this time. Wow! no problem, she was a sweetie. Finally the day came for her to give birth! She had a litter of 9. What beauties they were. The first one was solid white, she was mine! The only bad thing about having puppies is having to give them to someone else. Yes, I did keep the little (or not so little) white girl. We named her Blizzard, Blizz for short. Oh she was a little angel!! A blessing to our wonderful family! Oh boy did she love those kids, played soccer with them, ate, slept, you name it, she was with them. She was a ball of energy, so much life, and joy all bundled into this adorible blue eyed 90lb pitbull. She completed us.
Both Doze and Blizz loved to go for rides. The bad thing was that Blizz's gas kept her out of the truck, man did she stink!! Anyway, we moved to a new place. 96 acres. Plenty of room for my babies to run. They would chase us on the 4 wheeler, chase each other, and here we had plenty of room to play ball! Unfortunately, the two of them had gotten too big to be in the house full time. So during the day they stayed outside on runs. I really hated that, but there are times in your life, you do things you wish you didn't have to and ultimately regret. We put the two of them close enough to touch faces but not close enough to tangle at least we thought. One horrible day, my husband and I come home from work and Blizz is standing there whining and Doze is laying next to her. He never moved when we pulled up, so we knew something was wrong. We called him and called and then walked over to them. They had gotten there chains tangled and his collar got twisted. My God I miss him! Why my baby? He always wanted to do something for you, even if it was just to smile at you with that big bulldog grin. Man, I was having a real hard time with this. So, I decided I was going to keep Blizz in full time, no matter what. I gave her a bath and made her all pretty and smellin all good. Dozer died on a Wednesday, Friday I was home all day playing with Blizzard and goofing off. She helped me cut the grass and all. That evening, we let her out to use the bathroom. My husband came in to use the bathroom hisself. Normally , Blizzard would never go near the road, but something must have caught her eye that dreadfull day, because she went out to the road. I heard my little girl scream and went running. A car hit my poor Blizzard and kept on going. She was killed immediatly. Which is probably the only good thing. We buried the two of them facing each other under a big old oak tree. I dont think I have ever cried so much in my life. They were the best babies a family could ever have. Within three days I lost two wonderfull family members. I am still mourning them. Noone, or no animal will ever replace the two of them. May they rest in peace. I visit their grave every day and have a chat with them. Dozer, Blizzard...We love you and miss you with all our hearts.
