Our beautiful boy was beaten
by Elizabeth Atkins
My beautiful 6 year old dog Buck was beaten over the head within the last 3mths. My son, dog and I moved to a new city to start a new life in a new home. There was a lot of construction going on in our backyard and I would keep the dog inside. Several times people where in and out without our knowledge but we knew they had been there because work was done. Buck started acting funny, not wanting to do much (we thought it was the heat) peeing in the house, etc. But he would have spurts where he would go back to normal. Then he had 5 very bad seizures one after the other. We rushed him to the emergency vet and found out that the last vertabrae on his spine near his neck was cracked and he had a tremendous amount of swelling on his head. He was put on phenobarbital and we hoped for the best - the seizures just kept coming and coming and would'nt stop - even with medication. My 15 year old son and I finally put him down - it was the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life. He was our best friend and our family and was always there for us with a kiss, a wag of the tail, a welcoming bark. It kills me that there are people out there that would intentionally hurt an animal. Buck we love you and think about you every day we will all be together again one day soon baby boy - thank you for everything and being Jr's best friend and helping him grow up. WE LOVE YOU ALWAYS - Elizabeth & JR.
