Colorado Mist's Memories
by Elaine
You changed my life forever. Obedience, herding, registered therapy dog, you did it all. You helped so many people and made so many friends. You fought a long battle at the end but you still tried to do everything asked of you. You are much missed by so many and especially by your parents and the rest of your fur family. Hope you have had a chance to meet Boots by now. She is waiting at the bridge too. Your legacy lives on. Lucky carries on your duties and there will be a new little border collie in a while to help but there will never be another you. You are in our thoughts daily in so many ways. We miss you my little love. Rest in peace. Your people. 7/26/99 Your new baby sister was born today. We will tell her all about you when we meet her on Saturday. She will be 5 days old then and we'll take her picture just as we took yours in your father's hands at that age. You are so much missed and even Samantha is spending more time with us. I think she misses you too. You still have a memorial award coming. We Love You. Your People 9/20/99 We visited your grave today on this day of remembrance. We brought your new little sister home one day ago. She's named Daisy, just like your sister. She seems to love people already. May the beauty of your life shine forevermore and may my efforts to raise your sister bring honor to your memory. I received the plaque in your memory and it is beautiful. It has your picture on it. You would like it. Today we placed a stone on your grave to signify our visit. We still miss you very much. We Love You. Your People. 10/4/99 Your baby sister Daisy sent you a daisy bouquet today. Love, your people and fur siblings. 4/19/00 Misty, on March 26th, the day after what would have been your 15th birthday, Dr. Spencer who so lovingly cared for you had a very serious stroke that currently has him unable to care for your fur siblings. Please say a prayer for him from your vantage place in heaven. It has been almost a year and we all miss you so much. Daisy is almost 9 months old and I wish so much you were here to teach her and guide her. She has so much to learn to follow in your footsteps. With all our love, Your People and Lucky, Samantha, and Daisy. 4/27/00 Today is the year anniversary of your passing. Not a day goes by that we don't think of you and miss you so much. No one can ever take your place. I so miss having someone who is always ready to go with me wherever I visit and who I can be so proud of, a real companion. Your father misses your walks together. I know Daisy is still young, but she has so much growing to do to fill your paws. I will kiss your urn tonight and say a prayer of remberance. Love, Your people. 5/31/00 Today we lost Dr. Spencer. He went to join you on the Rainbows Bridge. Look for him, welcome him, and watch over him, just as for all those years he watched over you and your fur siblings. He will be much missed, not only as a caregiver but as a friend. I am so glad Daisy was with me when I found out. She was a real companion for me, just as you were. She is going to start school again next week with someone I hope she will listen to just as you listened to Rosie. Then maybe she will be on her way to following in your footsteps as a therapy dog. We miss you and think of you often. Love, your people and fur siblings. 6/3/00 We attended the wake and funeral for Dr. Spencer today. I sent him a rose for you and a daisy for your sister. So many people came to honor and remember him. The Rainbows Bridge prayer was read and the song Wind Beneath My Wings was sung. You inspired both and it is the prayer posted in his office in your honor that inspired it's use in the service. Watch over him. His grave is in under a tree in an area that must be what your meadow looks like. I will give Daisy a hug for you and for him and for Joan. Love, Your people. 7/26/00 Today your new sister Daisy is a year old. She is quite a character. She had her pictures taken today. They turned out great. It was work. She is quite a "ham". She is a real challenge to train. I wish you were here to guide her. You will always be my special dog. We miss you so much. I think Samantha tries to fill in for you at times. Love, Your People 2/24/01 "Because of you, I am a different person, and the person I will grow to become, with or without you by my side, will have gotten there partly because of you. If you were not in my life right now, I could not be who I am right now. Nor would I be growing in exactly the same way." Quote from Larry S. Chengges. Misty, you made such a difference in my life. You have been gone almost 2 years and I still miss you so much. Love, Your people. 4/27/01 It's been 2 years since you have been gone an we still miss you terribly. Daisy is growing up and keeps us busy walking and training her. She is beginning her public career and is entered in 3 events in which she can earn her 1st titles, CGC, TT, and HT. She almost got her CGC the other day but needs a bit more work. Please watch over her from above. They are clearing part of your woods for a building and your father and Daisy really miss them. Goodby for now sweetheart. All our love. Your People 7/26/01 Daisy earned her first title -TT- on June 10th and her second -CGC- on July 23rd, just in time for her 2nd birthday!!! I am so proud of her. She continues in on going training, just like you. She is still a character, but a more mature one. She and Samantha can even share the sofa now! Now we need to work on herding. We will even try for TDI in a month or two. She is becoming a real companion, just like you were, but she can never take your place. We still miss you so much. Samantha, Daisy, and Lucky all say hello. With all our love, Your People 11/23/01 Daisy earned her 1st herding title at the Border Collie Specialty on 9/12/01-a BCSA HT certificate and her first official herding title, an AHBA HCT on November 3rd and 4th, earning both legs in just 3 minutes and 9 seconds. Your Aunt Joyce handled her. She was spayed on 8/23/01 and her hips and elbows x-rayed at that time were good/normal. Her CERF done 11/16/01 was also normal. Quite a busy year for her. You would be proud of her. She passed 10 of 11 TDI tests and we are still working on her enthusiastic jumping greeting when she sees people, the test she failed. She loves everybody, just needs to grow up more and get some self control. Next year, more herding, a TDI, and obedience are our goals. You were so easy to work with, you spoiled me. She is a real challenge, but your father and I love her and they do enjoy their walks in the woods, and they are still there. Sam and Lucky are fine. We love you and think of you often, Your People 1/26/02 Please watch today for two new furbabies to arrive, Midge and Brook and help Sammy and Tillie to welcome them. They had cancer just like you so you have that in common. Their mother is your Aunt Joyce and she let them come together today to Rainbow Bridge so they would not suffer any more and would not be lonely. Watch over them. We love and miss you so much. They have torn up much of your woods to put up more apartments so Daisy and your Dad have a hard time finding a place to walk where there is no mud. So far they are managing however. Lucky and Sam send their love and so do we. Your people 02/02/02 Misty, thank you so much for watching over Daisy the other day when she ran out into the street. She could have been so badly injured or even have come to join you, but instead had only a couple of scrapes after her encounter with the car. I'm so glad you were there for her. Please continue to watch over her til she gets a bit more control on her own. We love her so much, just as we will continue to love you forever. Your people. 7/5/03 It seems like such a long time since I have written you. On July 4th Daisy made her debut as a square dancer along with other members of her training class, Audrey has done wonders with her. She has met many of her goals. With your Aunt Joyce handling her she has earned 3 more herding titles, JHD, HT, and PT. She has also become TDI certified. She now has 7 titles in all. She even earned a 4th place ribbon at the Border Collie Specialty in October or 2003. She will have a 4th birthday party with her training class friends in a week or so. She really is growing up. The next goals for her is passing the Love On A Leash and Humane Society of MO therapy dog training and graduation and basic obedience competition. Joyce is so busy with her new babies there is limited time for her to take Daisy to the next level. We found a new vet who Joan Spencer recommended and she even has a lot of his old equipment. I think you would like her. Samantha will be 19 years old on September 15th. Please watch over her and keep her in good health. She is my link to you and Boots. She has known you all. I would miss her so. Watch over Daisy's trainer, Audrey as well as she undergoes surgery next month. Daisy and I continue to need her help and expertise to let Daisy carry on your work. Lucky continues on with your work for now and is now doing hospice work as well. He has made a real difference in people's lives. Lucky and Sam and your father and I all send our love and we still miss you so. Love, Your people. 7/26/03 Today Daisy is 4 years old! I can hardly believe it. Your sister is really growing up and she really is a sweet dog. Just needs to work on her enthusiasm and self control. We all send our love and continue to miss you. Your people 12/10/03 Just a quick update. Your sister Samantha had her semi-annual health check up yesterday and got an excellent bill of health. Slight cataracts but nothing else. Not bad for a 19 year and 3 month old cat!!!! She is just as feisty as ever and still loves to eat. We love her so much. Keep up the good job of watching over her. We miss you and love you as ever.
