I had to put my rat to sleep a couple of weeks ago. I have never had to do that, my other pets died on their own. I was always afraid that I would not be able to do it but seeing him suffer actually made the decision easier. I know most people do not like rats and I know that they are not the prettiest thing but they are the best rodent you can own. They are really smart and friendly belive it or not. I never pictured myself having one until my teacher told stories about hers and she was right they do make excellent pets. So in Chip's memory I encourage anyone who is looking for a small pet for themself or their child a rat is a good way to go. I just hope that if my dogs or cats get sick I will have the same courage that I did with Chip, they do so much for us to let them suffer. Hopefully this might change someones mind about rats. Chip was a good friend and will be missed greatly especially by my dog Fisher who Chip loved to attach and bite. He will never be forgotten.
