Welcome to Zira's Rainbow Bridge Memorial Residency
Memories of Zira
My dear loving, brave, loyal, gentle Zira was one of a kind. A water dog that didn't like water, but was brave beyond belief. Despite suffering a horrific skin cancer which was cut out twice, she was determined to beat it and live. But it came back with a vengeance, and even with a massive bulge on her left shoulder, she soldiered on without complaint, determined to stay at my side. Eventually, the cancer bulge ruptured, and she was losing blood, but still, she fought on till the last day. On that fateful day, she still managed a small meal, did her business and despite struggling to stay upright, her tail kept wagging even when the vet arrived to put her to sleep, she greeted him with a raising of her head and wagging her tail. That's so brave, and it's this that remains burnt in my memory for ever. Zira loved her stuffed bear, she had it since she was 6 months old, she showed concern when it needed it's own surgery or being washed, and even sat in front of the washing machine waiting for it to come out. I made sure that bear would be cremated with her as it was so important to her and was with het when that fateful injection went in to give her peace. Zira was so passive, that she didn't even want to protect herself when a fox terrier tried to attack her. She love everyone and everyone loved her. I always noticed that as soon as a camera was pointed at her, she would go into cute mode. Yes she was one of a kind, I will miss her terribly, have shed many tears on her passing, but I will never ever forget her. And when my time comes, I will go to the Rainbow Bridge, and be reunited with my beautiful loving girl Zira
