Memories of Spongey
My favorite memory of you was when we were little. We would play tag in the backyard in Israel and I would run after you and you would run after me. Sometimes it ended with you "catching" me too hard and making me bleed.
There are so many memories of you it is so hard to choose what to write about. From you running around in the fields while we having a picnic, to you running around in the desert. Or from when you would try to hunt the neighborhood cats all the time and always get scratched on the same exact spot on your nose, but you never stopped trying. You got old with a scar of those scratches.
You were so strong and feisty. You would hunt fish, birds, moles, and rabbits. And managed to eat all of those guys in the house like the good hunter you were.
I remember how once I woke up with you licking your foot on the pillow next to me and I ended up seeing the whole house was covered in bloody footprints. You lost your nail and handled it like it was no big deal.
Another memory I love, when I would watch TV in Old Bethpage and you would come and scratch at my shirt so that I lift it up for you to sleep in. I would watch TV and you would just sleep inside my shirt.
My last memories of you are of the sweetest dog in the world. You went from being this feisty girl that would always bark to being the sweetest girl that always wanted to cuddle.
I love you so much and I'm grateful I have all of these wonderful memories of you. I am so sad that I cannot make more memories with you.
