Memories of SnickerDoodle
Just shy of 10 years ago, our lives were blessed when SnickerDoodle joined our GingerSnap and became a part of our family. He wasted no time in stealing our hearts and claiming his spot as Ginger's personal flea, constantly jumping in her face and doing his part in keeping her young. The rule in our house became "No one barks alone" which meant Snickers would help Ginger bark at things he was too small to see out the front windows, and Ginger would help Snickers bark at lizards we are guessing she could not see out the back windows. He had no idea he was just over 5 lbs., but "It's how you see yourself that matters," right? He was sure he could take on anything from the garbage truck to the German Shepherd -- and the truth is we were afraid to tell him any differently. He ruled the roost in our home in a gentle teddy bear sort of way [to the point a co-worker saw his picture on my desk and commented that I must have a really good seamstress!] -- and we would not have had it any other way. In addition to FreshPet, he loved watermelon, shrimp, and Pupperoni, "playing" Scrabble with us, AND being the center of our attention which required no effort on his part. He loved Facetiming with his Sissy [who is a rising senior at The University of Miami], was happy to don Hurricane attire for her benefit, and even took a surprising leap from the UM wall [following a photo session] on one occasion. He loved the camera [unlike Ginger who is certain it is a gun] which is currently a comforting thing as we are surrounded with pictures of our "Man of the House." But his absence will forever be felt as he filled our lives -- and the lives of many -- with unimaginable joy and laughter and love.
