Memories of Smokey
From the first time Chris brought Smokey home to us, I fell in love with him! He was a ball of fur back then! He licked and licked on us, happy to have a family! As a puppy, he also fell in love with our mother, Lucretia Cumbie, who was suffering from COPD. It was tiring, yet fulfilling. During this time, Smokey helped get me up when mom needed me. Smokey was a wonderful, intelligent dog who really made a difference in our lives!

We also became very involved in the Irmo Dog Park at Saluda Shoals Park. The friends we made there will be great friends for life! They also loved Smokey and oh, my, did he love going there! I also took Smokey with me on insurance sales calls, and must say that he probably helped me land a motel's insurance and other ones, too!

As you may surmise, Smokey was our buddy! Even the last weekend before he fell ill, we went to Savannah, GA and walked on the beach. He absolutely loved going places! You know, we all miss Smokey to this day, but I must say that we afforded him a great life! I wish he could have lived to come to the West with me, but at least, he is here in spirit! I do believe that God gives us eternal life, and what kind of place would heaven be without our loved ones, including Smokey? Until we see you again, my wonderful buddy, fare well! Do your part to continue to protect us and we'll look forward to seeing you again someday!
