Welcome to Sasha's Rainbow Bridge Memorial Residency
Memories of Sasha
Sasha, she came from Missoula,Mont. shelter. She was picked up as a stray. Her family no longer wanted her.She came up on Washington Akita group website. We saw she was an older girl, and probably would not be adopted from a large shelter. So the decision was made to go get her,we live in western Oregon,so it was a drive, but well worth it.She climbed in that car and never looked back. Her journey began with some health screenings, and found out she was pretty healthy. So on to some doggie classes taught by an old Akita friend Connie Skinner,Sasha earned her CGC title, she could do no wrong in the eyes of those at class,so willing to try.But we could see it was hard for her to do her sits/downs.As the winter weather closed in she started to show some changes, after some Xrays we could see the problem with her knees, very severe arthritis. We started her on meds, and did worked for a short time, but soon they offered no relief for her.I knew I had to let her go,she was the sweetest Akita, loved every one she met, even walked nicely with our Rat terrier, she loved walks at our city park. This was a hard one for me to lose, and for being involved in the breed for 35 years,I have lost many.Sasha,we loved you as much as if we had raised you here, join the other Akitas at the bridge we have lost.We only pray we will see all of you again.
