Rosie was a rescue dog. I volunteer for the San Antonio Great Dane Rescue. We take other breeds as well. Rosie was rescued from a puppy mill in which she was kept in a crate that was too small for her FOR 8 YEARS!!! She had a large callus on her head from sitting up and the top of the crate rubbing her head. |
Once we rescued Rosie, I could not put her in a situation where she would be shown an adoption events. She was too old and I never wanted her in a crate again. We kept her to give her love and a comfortable home until the end. Unfortunately, the end came too soon. After 8 months of loving her, she was diagnosed with a cancerous nasal cavity tumor. It grew very quickly and began pressing on her eyes. In the end, she was almost blind and in a lot of pain. Today we knew it was only fair to let her go to Rainbow Bridge.
I told my Maximus, who is already at Rainbow Bridge, to welcome her and let her know that there will be no more pain.
My heart aches for my giant babies
7/18/13 I can't believe it has been a year since you left us. Your time in my life was much too short. I wish I was with you when there was people hurting you. I would have saved you then. I can only hope that your time with us was a time to heal and feel love and security. I lost Cooper just 5 weeks after you. You two must have been tired. The soft beds and the petting gave you just a short time of comfort.
Rosie, please tell Maximus and Cooper that I love them too. My heart will always hurt for you. I love you Rosie. Mom

Again a whole year went by so fast. I cannot believe you have been gone from our presence for two years. I look at photos of you continuously and wonder why you had to suffer at all. I know that being rescued doesn't erase the past, but I truly hope your time with us was a happy one. You certainly brought joy to our lives. I pray that you are now healthy and happy. I also hope that you are looking down at our rescues and Quintus and blessing them with your love.
