Memories of Rehab
Rehab was born on a chilly rainy day in early May. His stray feral mother found a paint sheet in my carport while wondering around the neighborhood for the safest place to give birth. I saw her around my yard about a week before finding her kittens. His name was supposed to be ReRun, but he was sick when I found him and needed rehabilitation. He had a weaker immune system than his litter mates, which kept him in and out of the vet office regularly, hence the name Rehab.
I kept him and his tabby-white brother (a complete mommas boy) and surrendered the remaining three kittens to a no kill shelter. His mother was spayed went to a no kill local feral cat community program. He quickly took a liking to the two 10 year old cat family living with me and learned so much from them. He was a happy indoor cat his whole life and got to kill one little lizard in my basement which he was so proud of.
Before he passed he taught his new orange tabby kitten brother how to drink from sinks and open kitchen cabinets, and scratch only the scratching posts, just like the previous generation had done for him.
