We'll meet again, dear Raphka. Mommy and Daddy|
Raphka began this life on a university campus in Vladivostok, Russia. Her full given name was Raphaelka, in honor of Raphael the artist. We soon learned she was also the namesake of Archangel Raphael-- the angel of healing-- who is associated with joy and laughter, and all aspects of travel as well.
Raphka traveled through two countries to immigrate to the US, and then visited 32 of the states during her long, adventuresome life. She settled in Boulder, Colorado, for her final eight years, and loved vagabonding around the US in her RV with Mom and Dad. We found the RV on Raphka's fourteenth birthday. When she happily jumped inside and claimed it as her birthday present, we knew we had to buy it. So we dubbed it Raphka's "Rolling Dacha," and started our travels right away!
Raphka brought joy and smiles to everyone she met, and was especially gentle and loving in her later years. She was a wise teacher and natural healer, and shared love, laughter, and fun with us daily. Raphka also loved Mom's cooking, especially the salmon, scallops, and after-dinner treats that included carob chips!
Always clever, alert, spirited, and spry, Raphka started slowing down at sixteen, and decided to leave her aging body in her seventeenth year. We lit candles and sage, anointed her with frankincense and myrrh, and held her in our arms with love as she journeyed peacefully at sunset.
We always have and always will love you, Raphka. In love we meet and never part.
