Memories of Middy
the best friend i ever had i will never forget you a real bundle of fun gentle and kind companion to first jessie and ben who you left behind ben misses you loads .middy came to us after being kept in a shed with 2 other dogs ,we lived on a farm at the time and when she found open space to run she loved it .she was companion to jessie our springer spaniel and megan my brindle torti cat .
Jessie passed away a year after we found middy then it was just her and megan.
We moved and all was well .when she was 9 she went off her food which was highly unusual as she would do any thing for food ,she had a pyometra and i was told she had a couple of hours to live. I asked the vet to try and save her 1 said no then the other said they would try ,she made it just .
Everything went on fine after that then in 2015 megan got sick ,she was ill for 2days and then passed in her sleep at home . Middy was then on her own .
Everthing went on as normal until spring 2017 when i noticed a lump on her tummy i took her to the vet and it was a mammary tumour she had an operation and it was removed and she was given the all clear ,even though by this time she was 13 she still loved chasing her ball in the fields behind our house .she liked cats and selected dogs being a diva she was a bit picky!
In summer this year i noticed her back leg looked swollen so i took her to the vet she had tests and the cancer had returned with a vengance this time nothing could be done so she was put on pain meds and i took her home the vet gave her 3 weeks this was at the beginning of september . 3 weeks passed and she was still here still happy so at the next vet visit she was told to return in january .
I took her to see firework display on 5th november as she loved to see them then everything carried on fine.
On 3rd december she would not eat her food and had bad diahorrea she improved a bit after this but then went downhill .
She caught a dog stomach bug which was going around and with the cancer it was too much for her .
She was put to rest at home in her own bed with me by her side .
She is buried in her favourite place looking out over the fields where she used to love running with her ball .
