| Kyla was a rescue from Peace for Pits out of Chicago, IL. She was discarded in a dumpster in Chicago before being found and rescued by peace for pits. She was fostered by a wonderful family and passed up for adoption over and over because she was a pit bull and black in color. We met her at about 4 months old and fell in love with her immediately. She was the sweetest and most gentle dog I had ever seen. We adopted her and she has been "my girl" ever since. This dog touched something in my soul. Differently than any other dog ever has. She knew me and my emotions and was always by my side no matter what. She took care of my sons and stayed by them during illness. Her favorite thing to do was eat. She was very food motivated and woke us up to feed her in the morning and reminded us that it was 4:30pm when she was ready for dinner. She loved every person she met, never any strangers to her. She was very selective with other dogs but loved her brothers Kashious and Jax. She loved her huge yard to run and play in. She was known to sunbathe by the pool and roll in the grass, never bothering her fellow chickens and ducks who occupied the property. She started to slow down the last couple weeks and when she wouldn't get up to eat we knew there was a major problem. We took her to the emergency vet and they did an ultrasound of her belly and heart. We were devastated to hear that there was a mass on her heart and she was bleeding into her chest. We were told it was likely hemangiosarcoma and that the blood needed to be drained immediately or that her heart would stop. Upon further questioning we were told that it was not fixable, that draining it would just be a Band-Aid. It would fill up again and that she would ultimately need to be put down. We took some time and decided as a family that we didn't want her to continue to suffer. We feared it would fill up quickly and she would be in pain or worse while we were away at work. We loved on her, gave her some delicious honey bun, Oreos and Cheetos. We held her the whole way until she was given the meds and her heart stopped. Our family is heart broken. She was the best girl, one of a kind and is sorely missed already. I miss her greetings when I walk in the door, her company, her snuggles, and best of all just being by my side while in my recliner. My life will never be the same without her. Rest in heaven Kyla, Mama misses you so. Keep a spot warm for me pretty girl. Until we meet again. |
