When you were a baby, you were called a "banana dog" because you looked like a banana. You were nothing but the size of my palm when you would act like a lizard, waiting for me before school ends and climb on top of me so excitedly when you see me. You'd whimper at night because you wouldn't be invited to bed even though I'd always be mad wanting you there. Even when I left to follow my dreams, you always remembered me whenever I'd come back home. You were the best piece of home in that little town we lived in. You will be the best piece of home in the rainbow bridge you will go across. I only ask you visit me in my dreams to get another part of your warmth even as it leaves me in the waking hours.
