Memories of Katie Speckles Cornish
We saw your picture online. We rushed to the Milwaukee Humane Society to adopt you. When we brought you home you threw up in the driveway. You were sick with heart worm, but you got cured. We taught you how to walk on a leash and how to play. You had a special bond with each of us. You loved the sprinkler and herding your ball. When it was too cold to play outside you would herd your ball in the basement. You also got to play in the bathtub with the shower or spray bottle.

Maria will always remember how you would comfort her when she was upset or sick. Brianna will always remember how you licked her cuts and comforted her when she got hurt. Daddy will always remember how you would greet him when he would get home from work and how excited you would get when he returned from a trip. Mommy will always remember you following her everywhere and sleeping with her and Daddy every night. She also loved when you would sniff her ear and give her kisses.

Maria wrote you a poem.

I love you
Everyone loves you

My Beautiful Dog Katie 9/22/07-12/11/15

You came to me in sickness.
You left me in sickness.

On the way there as I held you in my arms and looked at your beautiful face I felt like you knew this was the end. I was so lucky to have you as my fur baby. I'm so glad I gave you a forever home. I hope you will always remember how much I love you. I remember how warm and soft you were. How your head always smelled like sweet syrup. The middle nail on your left front paw was black and white. I miss your piggy snort. I miss cuddling with you and feeling you sleep on my back. I miss watching you dream, the kicking of your feet and all the cute noises you made. You didn't get to use your Christmas present. I got you a beautiful, soft, pink, and fluffy cushion for your dog bed.

Today we hung your ornament on the tree
Oh how I wish you were here with me

Our time together felt way too fast
I keep thinking about all the good days of the past

I remember how much you loved to eat tuna fish
Now I keep staring at your empty dish

You will always have a special place in my heart
I wish we never had to part

I hope you know how much I love you so
Without you I just don't know what to do

You were so sweet and fun
Oh how I loved to watch you run

You were so beautiful and rare
Everyone we met would stop and stare

I loved to watch you herd your ball around the yard
Living without you is just so hard

Looking at you always put a big smile on my face
There will never be another who could take your place

Always remember Mommy loves you with all her heart!

Brianna wrote you a poem.
