I wouldn't go so far as to say Jake was "my child", "my baby", "one of the family (though that comes reasonably. I don't want to anthropomorphize him: after all he was "just an animal"). But it would not be too much of an exaggeration to say that he was my 'FRIEND.", my close friend and I miss him.
