Oh Herbie, where do I begin? I adopted you from a local shelter and little did I know that you were a hobo at heart! You would regularly take yourself off on adventures, sometimes days at a time. We'd receive calls from the neighbors, is this your dog? We found him in our yard/creek/property. That was you, an adventurer at heart. As you got older, you would stay home which no doubt saved me from more white hairs. You were my shadow, my quiet boy who rarely barked. You were so calm and the best big brother to Curious, Fawkes and Jackson. You were great with kids who loved to pet you. I didn't always realize or appreciate your love and devotion but now that you are gone, I remember it. Food was your favorite thing, especially cheese and peanut butter. I miss your constant presence and your calm reassuring love. If old age hadn't taken you, we would still be spending our days together. Run free now my boy, roam as far as you can go! I will see you again. Love, mom. Please also visit Curious. |
