Born in Virginia in 2011, Gwen was destined to be a show dog- but God had other plans. We were brought together at a time that our family needed her the most. She quickly filled all of our hearts with her unconditional love, and silliness. Having never had a dog before, we were all a little unsure about training and how to live our lives with a canine companion. Gwen made sure that she made it easy for us. Quickly becoming a favorite of anyone who ever had the good fortune to meet her. Dispelling the rumor that English Bulldogs are untrainable- she became proficient at may tricks, including- but not limited to- sit, paw and up up. She has ribbons attesting to her talents! Dressed as a summer ham, she was the grand prize winner of the Delaney dog show in Ridgewood- 2016. A very proud moment for the entire Femia family. The days went on as they do- filled with all kinds of challenges. But Gwen rose to every occasion. She never gave us one day of worry or concern. She took the odd things that were thrust in front of her in stride. A road trip to Tennessee in 2019, Countless restaurant sidewalk lunches and of course ice cream runs. She was a favorite at the Mall- both in her stroller and later- when dogs were allowed to be leashed. She decided on her terms, to leave us. She was never sick a day in her life- and never knew suffering. God was gracious for that. We thank him for giving us Gwen for a few years....and pray for the day that we are together forever.
