Memories of Gandolfini “Gando Fifi” Hopper Lane

My sweet "spirit kitty"....At 147pm on Tuesday September 02, 2025 Gandolfini Hopper Lane, aka but not limited to Gando, Gando Hoppy, Fifi Hoppy, Hoppy Fifi, Fluffy Butt, Norwegian, Gangster Kitty, crossed The Rainbow Bridge, exactly 260 Days to the minute and hour after his brother SmokeyLishDash. Gando was greeted by his older siblings, German Shepherd Autumn Breeze (2016-2019) and Bombay-Russian Blue SmokeyLish Dash (2010-2024).
Gandolfini strutted his way into our lives, and literally our home the summer of 2013, at approximately 2 mo. old, following his Dad and human siblings inside our front door. He walked into my bedroom, and I said, "What is that?" Michael said "A cat." I repeated "What is that?" several more times to get the same answer "A cat." When I stopped being in total shock and disbelief, Michael said, "Do you want him to go back inside?" I said "No of course not, but how?" Michael had previously said "No" to Smokey, "Hell no!" to Chesney, and we know how that turned out 😜 😉. That was my confusion and awe, that Michael just let him walked into the house with him. We took Gando to our vet, who knew by this time what to expect with us 😂 😆 😝. Gandolfini was named after the late, great James Gandolfini, of The Sopranos franchise, and because his vet said it looked like he ate grasshoppers while outside to survive.

Gando was EVERBODY and EVERYONE'S cuddle buddy, all of his fur siblings, his human family, especially his Mommy during the last 9 months of his life. After Smokey passed away, he constantly was sleeping on, around, beside, on top of his Mommy, day and night, until the summer of 2025 when his health started to decline.

Gando was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, Cardiomyopathy, and Kidney disease during the pandemic. We had to EMERGENCY rush him to 2 different vets until he could be seen by his wonderful cardiologist Dr. M at VSS. We almost lost him a couple of more times after that, but the staff and Dr. M adjusted his meds and he rebounded back. They, along with his regular vets at FAH saved his life. The summer of 2025 his CKD alarmingly sped up, as his CHF had been maintained for over 2 years.
CKD is a real bitch, it shows no mercy. We as his family tried EVERYTHING, and the vets say literally EVERYTHING, to stop the progression, to improve his odds, but by late August it was apparent that it would be that damn CKD that weakened him, not his heart. Gandolfini's heart as a matter of fact fought to the very, very end.

Gandolfini taught me, his Mommy, about perseverance, strength, fighting, patience, pure love, and about being a TRUE WARRIOR. I can't ever describe how blessed, honored, privileged, thankful, grateful that he and The Lord chose our family, and me to be his HOOMAN and Earth Mum.
Just like every human child is different, and you love them is so many different ways, that is how I feel about my Hoppy Fifi.
I cannot wait until the day that I am reunited with Autumn, Smokey, Gandolfini, and many others, at The Rainbow 🌈 Bridge. Losing a fur baby is just as bad as losing a human child. I say this as all of my human children are Rainbow Babies/Children.
