Ernie was a character in every sense of the word. He read my mind. He stuck with me through thick and thin. |
Ernie came with me everywhere I went. He took care of me.
He loved the beach and ran so fast. Then he would dig sand out from under my knees and wiggle into the hole.
He would come and get me by the finger and take me to where his special treats were.
He sailed in boats. He flew in planes.
I loved him more than my life. I am so proud to be his Mum.
Ernie just knew when I was going somewhere. He would follow me and wait expectantly because he knew he always came with me.
Now I'm waiting expectantly to go with Ernie. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. What memories we shared!
He was so smart. He knew words and actions and could show me what he wanted. He was never far from my side.
Now he lives in my heart. He has the biggest and most special piece of it.
I hope his friends Roxy and Frankie are also at the Bridge so they can play. They were musketeers together and had play dates. Roxy went to the Bridge one day before Ernie and Frankie went 9 months later. I used to sing a special song to Ernie but only when I knew they were coming for a visit or he was going to see them. Ernie knew that song and his whole body used to vibrate with excitement when he heard it because he knew he would see them. I truly hope they are together again.
15 February 2018
It has been 1 year since you left. I remember that day so well. You took your last breath in my arms. Then I broke.
This day is all about remembering you. You were perfect in every way. No words can capture your spirit.
