Memories of Cota
"A DOGS LIFE" Cota Weightman; 12/10/2007 to 7/30/2015 for the dog lovers & my family, I know you will look at all 60 pictures! Anyone else, I don't & won't expect you too. A special request, PLEASE don't 'like' my post, I think that's morbid to 'like' the horrible things that happen. Feel free to make a comment, or 'not'. Cota lived a wonderful half-life! Yes, exactly half of what he should have. The past three years I've cared for and watched this wonderful, gentle, beautiful creature deteriorate to: His tail no longer curled but hung limp between his hind legs, I helped him walk. That's enough of that; I would do it for anyone I love and some I don't. I know some will ask, he had a slow growing brain tumor & it caused all sorts of sporadic (ex: within three hours he would develop full blown pneumonia, in two hours his temp would go from normal to 107.4 for no medical reason, those are two separate events, you get the picture) illnesses including grand mal seizures ( 3-5 minutes). He asked me to let him leave in three distinct ways: After an events of projectile vomiting (this was a new symptom) and two days at the Vet and again, no medical reason, I brought him home, he refused to eat for eight (and his final) days, not matter what I set out for him. He drank (water only, he wouldn't drink anything else), he acted like his (limitations include) self. He has never been a digger, he kept trying to dig himself a hole (temperature not a factor), his last day, yesterday, I was laying with him on the floor, crying to God for an answer; 'was I doing the right thing', Cota looked directly into my eyes and issued the most mournful whimper-cry of 'YES PLEASE Mamma'! Cota was 75% Saluki, they are extremely intelligent and they live for running, Cota hasn't run for a very long time. Now he can! (Posted on FB)
