Memories of Camilla
Lieutenant Commander Camilla was a workaholic. She took her job seriously every day of her life. Her post was on the bed, in front of the window in the front room, and she only left it for food, water, bathroom breaks, and storms. There are no words to describe this gentle soul. I would give her kisses and say: She's the Little Old Lady, she's my Chicken Wing, my little Chick-fil-A, my Beautiful Baby Bird. Everyone loved her, as she was such a sweetheart. After my other Chihuahua, Chalupa, died in 2011, my other dog, Chili (a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix) and I were dying of grief. I physically ill already with various chronic illnesses, and Chalupa's passing was so traumatic that I ended up having to go to a cardiologist because my heart started doing weird things. Anyway, when Camilla arrived, both Chili and I, were revived. She literally saved us. Camilla started acting a bit "slower" just a few days before passing. Then on a Thursday morning, I noticed her breathing rate to be very accelerated. By the time I was able to get her to the vet in the afternoon, she was much worse. She barely catch her breath -- congestive heart failure, almost overnight. I couldn't bring her back home in that state to suffer, so I had to make that awful, gut-wrenching decision. I brought her home afterwards so that my two other babies could see her. I didn't want to go back home without her and leave them to wonder what happened. I put her on the pillow in the floor, with one of her blankets, and we watched her for a while. I feel incomplete without her.
