Memories of Callie
Hi this is Callie Gracie also known as Cal, Calliebug, and prob a few others as I got older and more stubborn I won't put down here. So if we haven't met this might be useful in getting to know me. My mom wanted to write this for me since we Leia and I can't talk hooman or write either LOL. :) I'll get to Leia later.
First Thanks so much to all of those who took care of me and all the loves, pets, pats and keeping us safe. I appreciate so many of you and thank you for all the fun over the years especially when mom traveled for work or they both went on vacation and couldn't take us.
A few notes about Callie:
She was a beautiful brown/rust colored American Golden w a white face. Very smart and didn't think she was a diog- she acted more cat like sometimes and thought she was more human than a dog.
I was called a "parking lot pup" Dad and brother found me in the Walmart parking lot in Las Vegas as a small puppy I was dirty, stinky and ready for a fur ever home. Originally from Utah my breeder had to sell us quickly and cheap-times were hard and pure breeds were expensive and so many puppy mills ruining our bloodline. I lived to 15 which is 94 in people yrs --pretty old for a golden and possibly attributed to the fact that my diet was very controlled and mom was always running training or doing stair workouts and I got to go a lot with her in the early. Sometimes I didn't eat very well in protest or would strike against kibble because it was just yucky especially when I was away from home. I loved chicken , bacon, string cheese. I got tired and needed a lot of naps I took these upstairs at the end of the bed or under mom's side all curled up where no one could disturb me. I couldn't see very well in my left eye especially and probably had cataracts - I run into things and struggled when my environment changed. My hips hurt because of ole arthritis I couldn't get up sometimes especially on tile or concrete or it would take me a minute to get it together. I didn't take meds very well and spit pain meds out unless mom gave them and she chases it w a cookie or an extra pill pocket - we probably had more showdowns of who is more stubborn daily ha
I could sit, lay down, stay, shake and speak also "wait" for hoomans to go in the door, leash removal etc. My walking pace was very slow and my hip gave out on me a lot but I used to really loved going for walks and wading in the water or hanging out in the hot tub.
Leia , take care of dad he's going to be sad now that I'm gone you're in charge of security protect our family ! You continue to give dad lots of Wags, licks and cuddles you give him purpose in life
Zach, you were my boy and my first choice in hoomans for many yrs.
Mom, you were a second and Although we both were alpha - You were more stubborn and bigger than me - you win
Julie - I think we got off to a bad start and I was friendly w any cute girls and most kids because of you
When you miss me remember I'll see you someday and I'm up on a hill in a beautiful place pain free running, swimming and seeing all others before me Princess Lady, Lacey and fishy all say hello and miss you ! Love you Callie
