Bennie was rescued from a horrible puppy mill by a Bichon Rescue, Small Paws Rescue. I fostered him and shortly adopted him. He was about 2 years old. You see, Bennie was a special mill pup. He was born in a dark hut and never saw sunlight until he was rescued. Needless to say, he felt secure in a safe place so he made my closet his shelter and home. Oh sure, he would come out to eat, go for walks and to see who dropped in. But Bennie always made his way back to the closet. I let Bennie do whatever he felt comfortable doing. To see him initiate a play with his brothers or grab a toy and, most of all, felt his first soft kiss on my hand were big milestones. For me, well, I can't express the joy and excitement it made me fell seeing him slowly come out of his shell. It brought tears to my eyes. |
His buddies, big brother Alvinn, closet mate Mickey, little brother Huey, older and younger sisters Tinker and Chrissy, will miss Bennie very much. For me, I will hold Bennie forever in my heart and mind and think of him at rest in a quite, safe place because he was the special one. I loved him dearly. My little closet boy.
