I adopted Bella when she was 8 years old. She was a timid, shy little girl and clearly had been through a lot. But she loved me and I loved her! She was deathly afraid of the car and I tried not to take her many places. She was more comfortable at home. If I had to go away for a day or a couple days, I always had someone stay at my home with her. She loved her toys and her favorite pink bone and teddy bear were buried with her. Unfortunately, she had a huge cancerous mass on her front left shoulder and in her leg. I agreed to the leg amputation surgery thinking it would give her some relief and extend her life a bit. But she died in less than 24 hours after the surgery. I think it was too much for her to bear. I will forever miss her greeting at the door each evening and enjoying her roasted chicken on Friday nights. |
