Memories of Baxter
Baxter Starr crossed the rainbow bridge on October 24, 2025, in New York City, peacefully at home and surrounded by love (and probably wondering why everyone was crying instead of giving him chicken).
Born January 13, 2015, in Arkansas, Baxter was adopted by Eshita Starr (who swears she gave birth to him) and later joined by his second favorite person, Brian Wegman, who quickly learned that Baxter ran the household.
Baxter's favorite activities included sleeping under blankets, judging everyone from the couch, long stroller rides, protecting the house from absolutely nothing, and sneaking steak bites whenever human eyes weren't watching. He also adored his stuffed bear -- his constant companion, pillow, and emotional support toy. He was suspicious of vacuums, disliked baths with a passion, and was deeply offended any time he had to wear clothes.
Despite being only eleven pounds, Baxter had the energy of a linebacker and the confidence of a lion. He believed every guest came to see him (and he was right). He had a signature head tilt that could melt steel and a bark that sounded like it came from a dog three times his size.
Baxter fought hemangiosarcoma with the same stubborn determination he used to demand treats -- until the very end, he was strong, brave, and still somehow managed to look like a little prince.
He leaves behind his mom, Eshita, his dad, Brian, and a home that feels much too quiet without the sound of his tiny paws clicking across the floor. He was the best boy -- smart, sassy, loyal, and impossibly loved.
We'll think of him every time a steak hits the pan, a blanket is stolen off the bed, and every time there's a suspicious noise that only Baxter would take seriously. He'll forever be missed and forever loved -- our little man, our heartbeat, our Baxter.
