​Bagel came into my life in May of 2021, and he quickly became my entire world. Even though I had told myself I wouldn't get attached to another dog after losing my first baby in May of 2013, Bagel had a way of breaking through that wall. He wasn't just a dog I lived with; he was my constant companion and my shadow. ​He had to be wherever I was. Whether I was just moving from room to room or sitting in the bathroom, I could always count on his sweet face walking in right behind me to be kissed. That "sweetness" was his greatest gift to me. ​Bagel was a true fighter for 13 beautiful years. In his final moments, as he lay on his side, I stayed right by his ear, whispering that he was the bestest boy and that I would love him forever. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by that love and the soothing sound of "Amazing Grace" being sung just for him. ​He is at rest now, restored to the happy, healthy boy who loved to be tucked into his blankets. I miss him every second, but I am so grateful that he chose me to be his person.
