We already knew that you were going to cross. It was Labor Day weekend and you tried so hard, so valiantly, but you couldn’t do more than a couple of sips of water, and you wanted to eat, but it was almost impossible. L and I gave you your IV fluids, you snuggled, you cuddled, but were restless. It broke my heart, as the vet was closed, we had to wait another day to give you your peace, your freedom, back to being the strong, gallant Gandolfini Hopper of your youth. We had that extra day, and while we so appreciated and valued it, and treasure it now, we knew, I believe that you knew, and my heart just continued to break, to shatter in pieces that cannot and will not be fixed until we are reunited.
