Julie, I stumbled upon your memorial for Allie when I was on the pet loss forum. It touched me greatly and brought tears to my eyes, as I lost my kitty Romeo this past Sunday 1/8/17 in a similar way (he had cardio myopathy and took his last breath at home around 3am, having suffered a stroke and losing his vision a week prior). I miss him dearly and I know I'll never get over his loss. It sounds like you really gave Allie a beautiful and you two were soul mates. She really will live in your heart forever. Rebecca

I just read your story of Allie and now I'm crying. I lost some very precious cats over the years, the most recent 6 months ago. When I lost Mia 18 years ago I thought I might die, and didn't want another pet. My daughter gave me a kitten that Christmas, though I didn't think I would, i did endbup loving him so much. So I got another black cat,and together they literally saved my life. Then last year I lost them both in 5 weeks, more devastating than I could stand. But I am glad I had their special love for 16 years. Again my daughter brought me a young one, and he is a devoted little friend. He helps, but still my heart is broken. I hope you are doing okay, you sound much like me, with the closeness, and trying so hard to save them. Your kitty got the best parents with you, and knew lots of love. I thinknthats all we can ecpect from ourselves. I would encourage you to get another friend, as I said, I would have missed some incredible love if I not let them in my heart.

Julie, I just read all the excerpts and saw all the photo's of precious Allie. I am so very sorry that you cannot physically hug her anymore. What a beauty! Death ends a life, not a relationship. I had a similar experience, from getting my boy Zaki from the shelter, to enjoying a special relationship with him for 16 years. I am so glad for you and your family, and Allie that she left on HER terms,in Her home, when SHE wanted to. I did not have that opportunity to leave it up to Zaki, and I am devastated. You have such wonderful memories, as do I. I hope and pray they are both safe and pain free, playing and happy. Head butting, and purring. No more fear, vet trips medications etc. Just fun for them. Sometimes a relationship is so special, bonds will never be broken by anything. Especially separation. You are lucky in the sense you had that relationship with Allie. I guess "shelter" kitties are so grateful that they are chosen, they love unconditionally!

We lost our yellow lab KaCy back in February. Very hard, somewhat unexpected. Reading this story, it brought back so many memories. My parents got another dog and named her Allie (spelled like yours). RIP Allie and KaCy.

What a beautiful cat your Allie was. And what a wonderful life she had with you. who knows what would have happened to her had you not taken her home with you. I understand your grief because I'm in the same place; but it's only been three weeks since my precious Allie left us. And I'm filled with guilt. she had problems but she was doing pretty well until one day she had started having little what the vet called seizures, she was a little weak, she was very thirsty and she had been in kidney failure for a long time. My husband was out of town so I took her to the vet and when he used the word euthanazia I started crying and haven't stopped since. She was 22 but she was a sweet, happy, loving cat. I will never forgive myself for not bringing her home to die in my arms. The vet said she would start suffering in a few days. Maybe he was right. I will never know. You did everything you could for your Allie. I'm not sure so I did everything I could for mine. God Bless.

Allie - You are one pretty little lady and you are very much cherished by your family! Send them some signs, kisses from the Rainbow to let them know that you are safe, happy, healthy and will have many friends. Let your family know that you will be waiting to see them again one day. To Julie and family I leave this quote, "heaven is the only place where all the dogs and cats you have ever loved will come running to meet you." Author Unknown

Julie - Allie was such a beautiful cat. I can tell how much she was loved and that you gave her a wonderful life. I am sure she is watching over you... I know how painful and difficult it is to go on without Allie by your side...please remember she would want you to keep living life in the moment and to be happy....I know it is hard to keep that in our minds right now but one day it will come and we will remember that daily.... Hugs and Peace to you! ~Julie
