Memories of VIETNAM FUR SOLDIER'S MEMORIAL
This residency is dedicated to the countless Fur Soldiers who served our Country along side human soldiers in battle. In heroes action they alerted squadrons of ambush, took bullets for their handlers, and dragged wounded soldiers through fire fight to safety. In Viet Nam alone, there were approximately 4,000 war dogs; and at wars end only about 200 returned home to the US. The fur heroes who survived the war were either euthanized or handed over to the South Vietnamese and abandoned. No known memorial has been set up for these courageous fur heroes! So while our soldiers returned home with recognition of medals and purple hearts, and a beautiful memorial has been erected in Washington D.C. for those soldiers who perished: their fur soldier counterparts were abandonded and forgotton. Our Government decided that allowing the war dogs to return home posed a "health risk." So, here's a memorial for all of you beloved fur soldiers, so did so much. We will treasure you, and thank you for your selfless service to our Country! Although you remain nameless, if there are any who visit this memorial that know of the names of our heros, I will be sure to list them, as I maintain this residency. Meanwhile, we honor you with a "four paw salute." The story of these wonderful fur soldiers was aired on 1/04/02 at 7:00PM EST on the Discovery Channel. If there is anything to add to this memorial, please let me know. A Proud and Very Grateful American. 2/6/02 Many have visited this memorial since these wonderful heroes became Rainbow's Bridge Residents. Today we bring you a service badge to serve as a medal of honor, and a Valentine, so that you know we honor you and love you! The Photograph is of the War Dogs Memorial located at March Air Force Base In Riverside California, to honor these heroes!
