Memories of Trevor Elko
Our cute as a button, 4,5 pounds Shetland Sheepdog, (Sheltie) Trevor made his way home with us on March 08, 2006 accompanied by his half brother Tristan from the same Breeder in Charleston, West Virginia. Trevor and Tristan had the same Fathers abut different Mothers, They were so different in so many respects. Trevor mimicked Tristan in everything he did except pee outside. Don't know if he didn't like the feel of grass under his feet bit it took him 13 months to begin peeing outside. Many pee pee pads, towels, ruined carpets and rugs and frazzled nerves. Even then it was only grass on trips.. In our yard he went in the pine bark nuggets

We could not leave Trevor outside by himself unless Tristan or we were outside with him because if his light weight and a chance that an Eagle or Hawk would swoop him away.

Trevor was a very happy puppy and loved mimicking and playing with his Brother Tristan and chasing squirrels. After a few months on hanging out on the swing with Tristan Trevor already decided he was the ALPHA MALE of the house. They played frisbee tug of war and other pulling tugging games where Trevor tried to prove his dominance. After about 8 months Tristan realized Trevor would not give up his conquest and gave in. You could hardly notice the difference but Trevor seemed to hold his head a little higher.

Trevor was a very fast runner as a puppy. I used to call him Blur as attached picture wii show. At about six years old chasing squirrels finally caught up with Trevor. Torn Ligaments and tendons in left rear leg prompted surgery by Dr Prostedny, who placed titanium rods and screws to make Trevor much better. After water Physical Therapy on a treadmill in the water which Trevor hated we decided to put him in the pool to do swim therapy with his brother Tristan. Donning their red life preservers they would swim around the pool hip to hip and if they were tied together, People who watched could not believe it. Sheltie Water Follies!!!! Both disliked the hair dryer afterward.

Trevor and Tristan traveled everywhere we did in the states but sat it out with our good friends Joe and Maryann when we went overseas on vacation. Thank you both. I think we imposed about 6 times.

Trevor had to undergo two more surgeries. Right side rear leg and left front shoulder again titanium, again DR Prostedny, again chasing squirrels. Trevor should have been used to name a new Dog Breed "Shetland Squirrel Dog". The shoe surly fit for Trevor. Trevor would have been a poor herding candidate. All he wanted to do was sleep in his grass in our back yard and guard his precious domain and would alert us if a squirrel, hawk or other woodsy animal invaded his territory. Than God no Skunks!!!!

Trevor and his Brother Tristan were inseparable. They slept next to each other every night always touching. When the time came to say good bye to our Tristan his poor brother Trevor was so very sad and down in the dumps after loosing his Brother of so many years. We had to purchase Pheromone collars for Trevor to wear to perk and cheer him up. Trevor, Mona and I were in the dumps quite a while after we lost Tristan. He was Mommy's Boy.

On Sunday, 04 November Mona, me and Skilos realized our worst nightmare. We thought Trevor would make it to age 13 but fate, a tired little Sheltie Body and old age caught up with our beloved Trevor. He was unable to get up, walk and no longer wanted to eat. I told Mona it was time and we both cried on each others shoulders. Trevor had been a good boy except for initially peeing outside and we all loved him dearly as he did us.

We called out Veterinarian and made an appointment to put Trevor at Eternal Rest, Pain Free and the chance to Frolic in the green hills and meadows with his Brother Tristan.at Rainbow Bridge. I can just picture them rolling in the grass and smothering each other with kisses. Thank you Jim for helping us get Trevor to our Vet and Thank you DR Hayes for making Trevor's transition to Rainbow Bridge painless, dignified and comforting to us.

We would like to thank the entire staff and Doctors at Everheart Veterinary Hospital for providing such good care to our Trevor over his 12.5 years of life and his Brother Tristan. Just remember, I AM ALIVE AND WELL. SKILOS. XOXOXO

We would also like to thank Trevor and Tristan's, and now Skilos Groomer Barbara who keep our Boys looking so handsome and pointing out potential medical problems.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts all.
.
Well Trevor, you lived a good healthy life for the most part until squirrels caught your eye and later when arthritis set in (Thank you DR Key for all the acupuncture treatments that really helped me). You were fed well with fresh water daily, You were given as a treat Brier's sugar free vanilla ice cream every Sunday evening, watermelon when in season every evening, You enjoyed out company on many trips, received all your shots and Vet exams and we loved you so much. We will truly miss our Handsome, Loveable Alpha Sheltie (sorry Tristan) Wonderful Sheltie Boy Trevor.

We Love and Miss you Trevor,

Mommy, Daddy, Skilos

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
