Memories of Nikki Chand
Nikki dobie you came to us in Oct 2003 as the runt of the litter at 3 weeks, got bottle fed fitting into the palms of our hands. you grew up so fast and boy could you run fast chasing all the birds at the Cloverdale duck pond. You made friends with the sparrow and they allowed you to chase them. A misdiagnosis caused you to have knee surgery. You limped but never complained of the pain. Many times I was angry at you, not being able to understand. But all you gave was love in return never holding a grudge. Frankie the siamese cat was your best buddy along with Doja dog, Roxie dog and Lily dog. you guys were the rat pack. We enjoyed the times and thought they would never end till one day Frankie, Roxie and Doja left for the Rainbow bridge. You decided to stay on never leaving my side. In the first week of March 2017 you developed Pancreatitis. On the fateful day of March 6th, 2017 you stayed in your bed. Despite the worst diarrhea, you held it and waited for me to come back from work 8 hrs later. You drank your water, went outside. All of a sudden your legs collapsed, tongue falling to its side and seconds later you said your goodbye's in my arms. I have lots to learn from you in life's lessons. Thank you for your unconditional love and companionship Nikki. Love you and waiting to cross the rainbow bridge together. Dedicate this poem to you and all the pets:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
