Memories of Comet
Comet was 12 1/2 years old when he passed. It was a completely unexpected event and left us in horrible shock and grief. Comet entered our lives as a young pup and quickly became our youngest son's companion. Comet loved to travel and we took him on many road trips with us. Years later, when our son moved out Comet stayed with us.

He was so full of love and life! He would bark as soon as the garage door opened and couldn't wait until we opened the door so he could greet us.

He was Jeff's companion as he went through his morning routine for work. Comet hated to be alone and always wanted to be around people. Yet, he did not like being picked up or held. If humans were in separate rooms, he would lay in the hallway in between the rooms so he could guard us.

Our favorite thing to do with him, was to have him sit with us in a chair while we watched TV. Before he jumped up, he would sit on his back legs and lift his front paws up and down, asking permission to jump up. If I stopped petting him, he would tap my hand with his paw to tell me he wanted me to keep petting him. It was adorable and made me laugh every time.

He slept in our room every night, and when it got cold, he would jump up on the bed and cuddle with us to stay warm. Both my husband and I would reach over to pet him. He provided so much comfort.

Even though sometimes his barking could get annoying, we always knew that he was trying to protect us. We miss him so much, and I know we will see him again, because I believe all dogs do go to heaven.

But for now, we are extremely broken-hearted. 💔 I never fully understood the human reaction of grief to losing a pet. I get it now. He wasn't just a a pet-Comet is/was a family member. Our son, Isaac, said it best, "Comet has been my dog for over half my life and it's just as painful as losing a human." I would say in some respects, even more painful! 😭

We love you Comet ☄️and can't wait to see you again! Until then, run like the wind and ask God to let us know you're ok. 🤗🥰🙏🏼✝️🕊️🔥

Hugs, pets and lots of love,

Mom, Dad and Isaac
