Hi Dan. Your memory posting of Smokey brought tears to my eyes. I hear your grief loud and clear. It is not so strange to have a grief reaction after so many years. I find myself still feeling grief and even guilt over the loss of prior pets. I hope you forgive yourself. After all, you were a child. You did give him comfort and loved him. I am sure he knew this. I am glad you are able to allow yourself to finally grieve your beloved Smokey. I realize that forgiving oneself is easier said than done. My rational self tells me I was but a child however, the emotional self still feels at times overwhelmed with guilt. You are honoring Smokey's memory with your memorial. Please know he would want you to forgive yourself. I believe our beloved fur babies will help us cross the Rainbows Bridge when its our turn to leave our lives behind.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of Smokey. Please find comfort in knowing that Smokey is now at Rainbows Bridge and making lots of friends. Saying goodbye is never easy. I also lost my precious cat Spooky July 30th 2001 after 16 wonderful years with her. I have lost several babies since Spooky's passing. Hannah 1/11/13, Sammi 8/2/13,Maci 4/9/14, Gabbi 3/20/17, Zoe 1/3/18, Willow 6/4/18, Shelby 6/12/18, Bear 11/17/19 and Bella and Murphy who were both tragically poisoned on 06/18/20. I am sure that Smokey and my babies have all become good friends. You can visit with Spooky at: http://www.rainbowsbridge.com/residents/Spook002/resident.HTM Take Care, Susan

I'm so so sorry for the loss of you sweet Smokey. Thank you for sharing those precious memories. Time heals the broken heart. I lost my Charlie last year and I totally understand the pain. I did get a new furry boy NOT to replace Charlie BUT to allow me to HEAL, GRIEVE and LOVE all at the same time. God Bless.

Oh such a very beautiful memorial to Smokey. Such a special time in your life and so wonderful to remember it and to honor it. Poor little Smokey sounds like he never really had a chance. But he is there waiting t greet all of you when the time is right. It is so incredibly beautiful that after all this time you remember to honor his memory and the love and loyalty he represented to you and still does. It is never too late to talk to him and tell him how much you loved him and still do and how he has remained an example of love and joy throughout your own life. I really do believe our babies live on for us and watch over us forever once we are connected in love. It does not end ever. I am truly sorry you do not have even one picture as I know that would mean so much to you. The picture you have is in your heart and in your mind's eye. Be well and know you gave a good little life to your Smokey. He loves you for it and is there..God bless you and Smokey.

Proverbs 12:10 States: A righteous man regards the life of his beast. Am so sorry about your loss. Just remember this.... Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together, completely healed. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers.... You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together..... To be in Heaven with God forever. Jini

I am so sorry for your loss of Smokey. My heart goes out to you as I know you are struggling so with the loss of your precious baby. Your world has lost a very special baby, family member and friend, but the heavens have welcomed home a very special soul. Earth’s loss is heaven’s gain. I know you had a special relationship with Smokey that will always be a part of you. I pray that my sweet little girl, Bailey, found Smokey and they have become friends. May the precious love you shared with Smokey continue to warm your heart and I hope you find peace and comfort knowing that your love will bind you together forever. Peace and blessings to you. My precious Bailey left our world December 5th, 2013 and we miss her so. Please visit my Bailey at http://RainbowsBridge.com/residents/BAILE364/Resident.htm

Dan: Rainbow Bridge is a very special place where our loved ones go after fulfilling their commitments to us. Smokey will be forever remembered and even more so now as an adult as life experiences have become more meaningful. Reflect, celebrate and always remember the energy of love never dies. Ever. You will carry Smokey in your heart until you can carry him in your arms once again. May you stay on the sunlit path to healing. I picked a sprig of lavender from one of the lush hills at Rainbow Bridge especially for you.
