Awww, such sweet words for a sweet little pony. I too had a rescued Shetland pony who was foundered. With the help of a great farrier I kept him standing for 7 years. I know the commitment it takes and yours was exceptional! Know that he is now your guardian angel and watches over you daily. Prayers, my friend.

Hi Steve, I am so sorry for your very profound loss. Please take solace in the fact that you have given so much of yourself - your physical self, your mental self - truly your whole being to give Shadow joy every single day since you’ve entered each other’s lives. I say with confidence that no one could have loved Shadow more than you did, and I’m sure he knew it! I’m glad that Shadow was able to hang on until it officially became Spring - which this year was at 5:37 AM eastern time on Saturday March 20th. The exact moment it becomes Spring is actually the biggest holiday of the year for Iranians, as it is the Persian New Year. It's not a religious holiday but rather a universal celebration of new beginnings: wishing prosperity and welcoming the future while paying tribute to the past. I know this new beginning has been ushered in with grief, but I hope the memories of shadow will fill that sorrow with happy memories. Please accept my sincerest condolences.

Hi Steve. I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Shadow. I can relate to the heartache of losing such a precious family member, companion, best friend like Shadow. Your memory posting of him brought tears to my eyes as it so reminds me of losing my sweet girl, my best friend last June. Our fur kids are amazing. Everyday they give 100& of themselves to us. They help see us through the worst of times. With them we can feel peace, contentment, support and joy. They are very often the best teachers in our lives. Shadow was deeply loved, cherished by you. I am sure he knew this. Letting go is difficult, but is done because we love so much, we are willing to take on the heartache that comes with saying goodbye. You and Shadow created a forever bond and many memories together. Please keep these memories close to your heart. I hope recalling them brings you peace, contentment and joy.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of Shadow. Please find comfort in knowing that Shadow is now at Rainbows Bridge and making lots of friends. Saying goodbye is never easy. I also lost my precious cat Spooky July 30th 2001 after 16 wonderful years with her. I have lost several babies since Spooky's passing. Hannah 1/11/13, Sammi 8/2/13,Maci 4/9/14, Gabbi 3/20/17, Zoe 1/3/18, Willow 6/4/18, Shelby 6/12/18, Bear 11/17/19 and Bella and Murphy who were both tragically poisoned on 06/18/20. Shadow was always a fixture of Carter Dr!! The house with the pony, what a cool thing! Shadow was calm and so peaceful and was taken care of meticulously by Uncle Dee. They were best pals. Animals bring love and light into this world and the bond they have with their special humans is more than words can even describe. RIP Shadow.
