"God gave us our memories so that we might have Roses in December." a quote by J.M. Barrie. May the memories of your blessed furangel Joker, the ones that can't help but bring a smile to your face and a chuckle to your heart as you remember the way your baby's tender love touched your life, be the ones that surround you this Holiday Season. My prayer for each of us this Christmas season, is that each of our babies wrap up a special little sign for each one of us back here, and send it to us this Holiday season. May you catch a glimpse of your special sign, just when your heart needs it most.... And may each love-filled memory you have of your beloved furbaby bring to your heart the very warmth and sunshine of the Rainbow itself. That's just one "gift" your fur-angel would want for you this year ... With best wishes for you and your family this Holiday Season, Karen (Dusty, DJ & Patches' mom) http://RainbowsBridge.com/residents/DUSTY101/Resident.htm

Dear sweet Ashley, I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of your sweet horse Joke. I know the pain that you feel. I too lost my Beloved Arabian and my sole mate 10 months ago. The pain you feel will lessen in time but the empty hole in your heart will never be filled with another. You will love again but somehow it's never the same kind of love. Know that Joker is running across a field of grass and that he is sound and happy. I am sure Eterna V was there to greet him and take him under her wing. Your bond will never be broken and you will see him again at the bridge. Kim Jenkner

Welcome to the bridge Joker AFire...how are you today? Your story broke my heart. There are so many horsey friends at the bridge for you. And I know you are not only giving the doggies & kitties at the bridge rides but also the human babies that are there too. What a good horsey you are. Make sure you send your humans many "neighs" so they know you are OK. To Ashley...we are so sorry for your loss. Hold your memories close to your heart until you see your precious Joker AFire again. http://RainbowsBridge.com/Residents/COLE002/resident.htm

Joker Afire, What a precious baby you were, always so loyal and loving. You taught and gave your mommy so much that she now knows the true meaning of unconditional love. She longs for the day to be able to hold you and to look into your eyes again. I know just how grateful you are for all of love and care in which she provided you. She misses you baby, so very much. I know that you don't want her to be sad for too long, but instead, be happy. For you are happy, content at peace and have been surrounded by so many others who also love and adore you, including my Shayna Girl and Leche. I extend my deepest condolences to you for the loss of Joker. I know just how painful it is to have lost your angel, for, I too, lost mine. Please vist my Shayna Girl at: http://rainbowsbridge.com/residents/SHAYN005/Resident.htm and Leche at http://www.rainbowbridge.com/residents/LECHE001/Resident.htm My thoughts and prayers are with you. Until we are with our babies again. Shayna and Leche's mommy, Lisa

I ran out of characters when I told my story about Scamp. I wanted to tell it because some people do not believe that animals feel emotion. They do. My sympathies are with Ashley and her family. Thank you so much for sharing your story.

I have never had the privilege of having horses. Animals of any kind are a great gift and do show love and emotion. When we had to put one of our dogs down due to a tumor that would have eventually suffocated him, it was heartbreaking. I, my husband, and our 2 boys were in the vets office sitting on the floor. Scamp knew what was going on. He went to each one of us, one at a time, and placed his paw on each one's leg as if to say goodbye. He came to me last. I had rescued him on his last day at the pound before I married. He laid down on my lap and looked up at me. I told him I loved him, that I was glad I rescued him, and that it was okay to go. (The vet had told me on a previous visit that there was no reason for Scamp to be alive. He was alive because of me as I was trying everything to cure his tumor.) He then got up, walked over to the vet, looked at the wall, and took the shots. We buried him in our backyard. Our other dog laid on top of Scamp's grave for over 3 weeks.

My deepest sympathies to you and your family on your loss. I do know what it is like to lose a loved one, whether Human or one of our special, furry babies. Having lost quite a few of my own and doing dog rescue, it is never easy. From my house of 8 furr babies, to yours, we wish you the best. If you ever need to write please do so. I will be there for you. They never leave us, we just don't see them any more. Their spirit lives on.
