John, What a wonderful tribute to your dear Godiva. God has given us a precious gift of unconditional love in our pets. We understand from our own experience and loss what you are going through. There are no words that help but as time passes the pain softens and although she can never be replaced it will help as it did for us to share a love once more with a new baby. I hope you find the special one like we did. Stay strong. Linda & Jack

John, I just went into Godiva's site, and am still crying after reading about your precious girl. My heart aches for you. We have another little girl, who is also a little brown doggie. We rescued her after losing Duchess. Her name is Harlee, and she's Chi/Terrier mix. Loved seeing the pictures you posted of you and Godiva. I know the pain you're feeling, and hope you will get another little one to nip at your nose. So many great memories of our pets, and yet, it's just hard to not have them around. Duchess always loved going bye-bye, so when we go to lunch, I wrap her up in her blanket and take her with us. Wish it was for real. Godiva is definitely with you. Diane

John,,Godiva is a beautiful girl...a beautiful tribute for a great friend. It is never easy to lose a furry young or old and I have lost both. For whatever reason they are always taken from us too soon while leaving their forever pawprints within us. She is now healthy and playing with Oreo,Ralph and Eva while waiting for us to join them on the Bridge.I can send you my babies site if you wish to visit..take care..

There just isn't anyplace to escape the pain that is there, John. All I know is how lucky that dog was to have you as her owner. There could be no better place for her than at your side while she was here. She was made for you. Pouring out your heart about her with what you wrote, shows the depth of love and relationship you had, and still have with her. This kind of deep love will never go away, It doesn't just disappear. You will see her again. She will love and adore you again. Until then she is in some wonderful place being loved and being cared for and is just waiting for your return. Good job giving her the care, love, and comfort that only you could give to her as her health slowly left her. I think in an animal's life this is one of the most critical times. They don't understand what is happening. All they know, their only comfort, is the love and care coming from their human whose heart is breaking. Good Job John! You saw her off well!

Dear John and Godiva, I am crying my eyes out right now as I read your WONDERFUL tribute to Godiva. What a beautiful, heartfelt message! What a special bond between the two of you. It is so obvious that you two love each other very much and were there for one another all of the time. I love your descriptions of her; looking pretty for daddy, biting at your nose, etc. She really did have pretty eyes and a pretty face! I pray for you and that the void you are feeling won't hurt so much. I pray comfort from God and that you know Godiva (Porkchop) is in His care now. She is happy with the others. Your little nook dedicated to her touches my heart deeply. What can we do to help you? Please let us know.

I spent quite a bit of time with both of you and I agree she was a special friend! First time I met her she barked and barked for a week. She'd peek around the corner of the couch and if I moved she'd take off. Each visit she became a little less concerned and would slowly walk to my chair. I'd let her sniff my hand. Finally one day John let out a yell when he was watching the World Cup. Scared her so much she jumped off his chair and jumped on my chair. We were friends after that hard-won fight! She was a very special little friend and loyal till the end. She'll be missed for a long time to come!!!

Godiva, you are a sassy girl. I know you love Daddy as much as he loves you. Keep the other girls in line while you're gone and we'll bring lots of treats when we see you again. Xoxoxo

As painful as it is when we lose one of our cherished companions, there is solace in knowing we will forever have our memories of our time with them. - Mark

For those of us who love our animal friends we shall bear the hurt but only until we cross the rainbow bridge to be joined again for eternity. 😇

Dear John, My prayers are with you on the passing of your precious Godiva. She was a beautiful Girl and obviously deeply loved. You gave her such a wonderful life and It is not easy losing our loving companions. I completely understand the pain and grief that you are experiencing and you are not alone. Would like to share this poem read during Princess Diana's memorial ceremony. "Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity." (Henry Van Dyke) Hope that the many memories of Govida will continually provide you with comfort, She will forever live in your heart and memories. If you would like, please feel free to visit my Baby's memorial. http://rainbowsbridge.com/residents/CHEST037/Resident.htm. Sending love and light, Nelson
