Hello Amanda, I loved this story of Emmy and how she came to work with you instead of for someone else! And just for the record... I never heard a growl out of her. I don't think she had one in her. Sweet Girl and good friend.

Amanda..it is clear to me that you were the person Emmy was to "serve" and she truly enjoyed her life doing it..She truly does deserve the scarf.....a beautiful tribute for a great friend. It is never easy to lose a furry young or old and I have lost both. For whatever reason they are always taken from us too soon while leaving their forever pawprints within us and labs leave them like no other. She is now healthy and playing with Oreo,Ralph and Eva while waiting for us to join them on the Bridge, they are gone from our site but never forgotten. I can send you my babies site if you wish to visit..take care..

Dear Amanda, it seems to me a Higher Power knew Emmy needed her mommy and for whatever reason, she needed you. It was a very unselfish act on your part to let her be part of the service dog program. I know she tried her best, but she just needed to be back with you. I share in the sadness of her loss to you and hope sweet memories of her will help your heart to heal more quickly. Blessings.

Amanda, I am sorry for the passing of your wonderful Emmy who became the `gift` to you which you thought you were training up to help others needing her as a Service dog. Clearly unbreakable bonds had already been formed and Emmy was wise enough to know where her true destiny lay - and how to `manipulate`her way back to you. I am happy for you that you had 14 yrs together as parent and fur-child. Now that has ended - in this life - peacefully at your side - as she wanted. I am writing through my tears at your moving story which has really touched my heart. I know that the love-bonds between you are forever - continuing into the next life where there is no more old age or `wonky` hips - where love goes on forever - an Eternal Day in a Land of Light God has created for all those who love Him - and His `gift` to them - beloved fur/feather children - separated briefly by this mortality but re-united across the Bridge. May you feel the `gift` of Emmy`s gentle spirit with you - always.

Amanda, I am sorry for your loss of sweet Emmy. She sounds like a wonderful dog that gave you so much love, pride and companionship. Know that she is happy and health at the RB now. I hope she meets up with my Murphy so they can run and play together in the warm sunshine.

Dear Amanda, My prayers are with you on the passing of your precious Emmy. She was a beautiful Girl and obviously deeply loved. You gave her a wonderful life and It is not easy losing our loving companions. I completely understand the pain and grief that you are experienced and you are not alone. Would like to share this poem read during Princess Diana's memorial. "Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity." (Henry Van Dyke) Hope that the many memories of Emmy will continually provide you with comfort, She will forever live in your hearts and memories. If you would like, please feel free to visit my Baby's memorial. http://rainbowsbridge.com/residents/CHEST037/Resident.htm. Sending love and light, Nelson

Oh Amanda, my heart just breaks for you, but what a wonderful life she had with you! As you know, it was the one she (and you too) was meant to have. She was meant to touch many, many lives, and that was fulfilled by being your baby. I have a 12 year old Golden and am so encouraged to know that you had your Emmy for over 16 years! What a blessing...if only that made the loss easier to bear. Thank you for sharing your story...my girl Tammy does NOT do well with other dogs; the little ones especially. She growls and barks and spits and does her best to look like an attack dog. It's terribly embarrassing...but I don't try to explain her behaviors away anymore. The grandchildren tumble on her, she loves her pussy cats, and is a "bestie" to all of the other family members' dogs. Bless you as you suffer this incredible loss. We know that we will be reunited, never to be separated again, but it does little to ease the loss. I am praying for you.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of Emmy. Please find comfort in knowing that Emmy is now at Rainbows Bridge and making lots of friends. Saying goodbye is never easy. I also lost my precious cat Spooky July 30th 2001 after 16 wonderful years with her. On January 11, 2013, I lost my faithful friend Hannah who was a beautiful blue tick hound dog. On August 2, 2013 another one of my beautiful cats, Sammi, a black and white tabby, went to Rainbows Bridge. April 9, 2014, Maci, my English Bulldog passed over to Rainbows Bridge. Maci and Hannah were best friends. I am sure that Emmy and my babies have all become good friends. You can visit with Spooky at: http://www.rainbowsbridge.com/residents/Spook002/resident.HTM Take Care, Susan

Amanda- It's difficult to say Emmy's name without smiling and upon reading her beautiful tribute, it goes without saying the two of you were meant to be together. Her purposefulness and the powerful gratification were equally shared and understood. I am so deeply sorry for the loss of very special friend who made each moment in life special for those she had come to know. Honor, celebrate and remember 16.5 blissful years of how Emmy taught you the meaning of love, compassion, patience and resilience. May this sentiment help to soften your grief: “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die. They may leave our lives, but they will never leave our hearts. ” Thomas Campbell In loving memory, I've placed a shade tree at Rainbow Bridge--rest in peace, Emmy! May you be graciously blessed, Amanda, for your compassionate heart in your chosen field.

Emmy I am sorry for your loss. Amanda loves you and misses you very much. My Perseus went to Rainbow Bridge when he was 14. There are no more aches or pains. No rain only sunshine. Running and playing all day with the other furbabies. One day we will join them for all eternity at Rainbow Bridge.
