I met Diego while my sister was caring for him at her place. He was the sweetest kindest and most gentle soul I've ever met. He loved to fetch his ball and would always politely ask you to toss it again. I'll never forget him and I hope hes running in the greenest field with permanent sunshine with all the other doggies who have left us.

Diego, you had my heart and held it so lovingly. Thank you my good boy. Brian, Diego is a life changer and I’m so happy to have had time with him. I still see him in all the places we went and still go. Even with this pain, there is a joy that remains, Diego; he still gives me joy. What a gift💓

Brian, I am so sorry Diego is no longer with you. Like you, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to create a memorial here but did so because I needed to do something to try to keep busy. I cannot even begin to describe how unpleasant bereavement is to go through. Diego will always be a part of you. I hope you find things which give you emotional comfort. And please know that whatever happens, you will be okay :-). The link to my memorial doesn’t seem to be working. If you search on ‘pet name’ and type in Fred (Boo Boo) he will come up. His breed is Miniature Pinscher. Please take care. Cari

Brian...a beautiful tribute to a great friend.Diego is a beautiful boy. It is always hard to lose a furry young or old and I have lost both. But no matter what or for whatever reason they are always taken from us too soon leaving their forever pawprints within us. Be sure to know he is happy, healthy and playing with Oreo, Ralph and Eva while waiting for us to join them at the Bridge. I can send you my babies sites if you wish to visit..take care..

Dear Brian, What a beautiful and heartfelt memorial page you made for Diego, Being a dog owner/lover/rescuer for most of my adult life, I know the deep heartache we feel when we lost such a special one. I also know that, with time, the sadness does ease and we bring back those happy memories of them that bring smiles to our faces. I hope you sadness will ease and you will have those memories, too. Blessings, Dianna

My first walk with Diego and my border collie mix, Etta, was quite an event. Diego, being young and intent, eagerly joined us for the 1.2? mile cruise through our neighborhood at what turned out to be the fastest pace that Etta and I had ever taken - and Etta always pulled me along. Whew - I felt all my muscles from the waist down afterwards. Etta was a barker - particularly in her younger days - and Diego would let everyone know, with his barking, when he felt alone. One day, knowing that a neighbors had previously complained, I crossed the street and invited Diego back to our house - barking ceased. Etta was good-sized at 60 lbs., Diego towered over her and could easily step over her while she was standing, It wasn't until I brought Diego into our house that I fully appreciated his size - our house suddenly became very small. While Etta lay on her cushion on the floor staring at Diego, he sat calmly erect on the couch next to me with his head considerable above mine.

Hi, Brian. Just read your memorial to Diego. Your words ring familiar, especially the part about you sitting w/ Diego watching the sunset from the Marin Headlands. I've been there w/ my former GSD Buddy, and yes, it doesn't get much better than that. Such is the world of unconditional devotion. Sorry for your loss. Well Brian what a beautiful memorial you've put up here for Diego, you obviously had a lot of love for Diego. When you get a puppy at 8 weeks of age and you raise them they become like your child. You had some special times together on your walks, and he sounds like my Jasper with the ball in his mouth. You had some very special times together I couldn't think of anything nicer than sitting down and watching the sun set with your special friend. Diego was obviously a real character I can just see him lying in a puddle with the ball still in his mouth, you have special memories. I'm so sorry he ended up with a herniated disc, its so sad to watch them go down and what a shock it must have been to be told Diego wasn't going to live for more than another week.. There's nothing wrong with crying Brian, it helps. I'm going to give you my Jaspers memorial address, www.RainbowsBridge.com/residents/JASPE063/Resident.htm You will see your not the only one crying.

Dear Brian, I am so very sorry for your loss of Diego. What a handsome boy he is. I know how sad you feel, I just lost my dog Sammy this past January 7, and now I have just lost my sweet kitty this past Saturday March 30th. I know how the pain may be unbearable at times. Please know your Diego is now your guardian angel as are my Sammy and Mimi for me, and will be watching over your and will be waiting to be with you again one day. Dear Diego, enjoy your angel wings and please send down loving signs to your Daddy to let him know you are always with him and are waiting to be with him again one day. Sending warm hugs. Please visit my Sammy and Mimi as we miss them so very much. Brian.. what a beautiful, heartfelt, loving tribute to your best friend and fur child. Thank you for sharing him with us. I can certainly see why your heart is breaking into a million tiny pieces. I have lost several retrievers to that same cancer. Its takes them from us so quickly that the pain and the shock can be overwhelming. Please know you are in my thoughts during this time of profound sadness. Godspeed precious Diego.. what a GOOD boy you are! (((hugs)))
