Memories of Zekie
Where do I start... Zekie my big boy. You were truly a soulmate, for all these reasons we shared and lived. You met me everyday for the 8 years we shared, after rescuing you. The truth is, I may have rescued you, but you truly rescued me ... very soon after (couple months) you knew you wanted another furry companion, and the truth we needed more life...and so came Baby Girl Ava, your baby sister, our other rescue who you trained up. She followed you, watched you, learned from you, played with you, teased you, play-fight, and grew to allow you both to touch when we all snuggled in for TV / Goodnights. You loved to eat, there wasn't anything you didn't want, including tennis balls, black-toy tire 'Amazon's Indestructible Toy," (Ha,Ha) that resulted in their money-back guarantee refund!! We share multiple relocations settling frost Coast to Coast (Florida), the beautiful Ocean, you took by storm, as I watched from the shoreline only to find your big barrel chest and the breaking waves were competing with one another, pulling you out you ran and played with many furry beach friends, there was not a person who did not look at you and drop their jaws, your demeanor invited everyone a gentle regard, though watchful & protective was your stand for me. Those that got to know you, and love you have the most incredible things to say about you. You are and will always have the indelible paw print forever embedded in mommy's heart. Nonno, Nonna, Poppi, Aunt Danielle & Krissy, Cousin Dylan, Fur Cousins Angel, Salem, Nino all know of you and together we have shared in the love you brought and ultimate happiness.
When a love and life as we were so fortunate to have (our meeting story alone should have told me how great it was going to be; find you amid hundreds of dogs) my finger stopped on you and instantly exclaiming "I want him," our meeting connection friends also knew...and within a short time, while I worked, preparing for the day off, on the back-end our beautiful Andrea pulled you out of Miami-Dade Shelter and beautiful Hilda helped sponsor your boarding hold, medicine. Pick up day came, together with Aunt Susan, we came and picked you up from your boarding facility in Boyton Beach. I'd like to say you walked out gracefully, truth is, in your beautiful stride and hustle you near-flew to the front exit door, quickly jumped into the truck (all the while knowing, what we both felt) TRUE LOVE; PURA VITA and off we went to your new home. What a joy, my baby boy. I do feel lost without, but not a piece of me wanted to keep you one day more, knowing and seeing life become a little more difficult for you. I miss you in all kinds of ways, and I'm so blessed, fortunate, thankful I got to love you baby boy. Your soft wrinkly face, that amazing strong big gorgeous body of yours, how I loved to squeeze you and kiss you up. Those eyes spoke to me (you amazing voice too) you made us laugh. Your howl, the howl that saved you, the howl that greeted me every single morning (teaching Ava girl her alto backup 🎶) it was true music to my ears. Oh the time the neighbor from doors down isolated the howl and came knocking on our door. Our California neighbor who shared the same no-big deal story...yea I hear him from time to time. It was your way calling me, chevking up on me, and when you woke from a mid-day nap, why get up (thats just too much exercise) when you could just howl. So I tell you, My Big Baby Boy...don't stop howling. I can and will still hear you.
Zekie, I love you and sing praise and thanksgiving to God for you baby, for the most special days with the utmost of strength you gave while mommy prayed on and over you, protected you, talked yo you, read to you, hugged you gently, caressed you beautifully, on-time they say and sweet baby boy it was the not easy to make the decisions that I know with the help of God I was able yo carry out. Finding Dr. Faith, DVM helped me trust her to involve her. A licensed Vet, with a animal sanctuary of her own close to home, and the ability to leave you right here, in our home, safe space it was only how I could muster up strength together with Nonna, Daddy Derek and Baby Ava, we guided you to cross the beautiful Rainbow Bridge. I talked to you, filling your ears with such beautiful words of truth, symbiotic strength, kissing you baby boy, watching those gorgeous eyes, you looked to me, you saw and heard Nonna too, kissing you, I knew just when you had your final breath. You came into my life as gently and amazingly and left even more beautifully than even I could know. I know Nonno welcomed you, I asked him too. I called for him, in fact he was right there with us too .. and there was great peace and calm surrounding, love, kisses, hugs, sweet soft music, warmth from the sun, birds chirping, a beautiful blue and white sky, ... you are my forever Big Baby Boy I will tresure ALWAYS. Zekie, you already know all this ... I lost your heartbeat yesterday, but gained another. Oh my baby mommy how I wanted you both to meet. Please come to us in a dream and show me the toys (and delicious scrumptious foods) I can almost guarantee they will be even better than my cooking for you ...

I love you Zekie. Aka King Kong
