You came into my life in a time of uncertainty and pain Helped me let go and trust God again Highly unlikely will you ever conceive on your own they told me so Off to Georgia I went for a sweet fur baby Promised to a soldier that could no longer take you you followed us around as we looked The puppies were little bundles of wrinkly bulldog cuteness yet Petey they called you and you had something in way of uniqueness From your snorts to your patch over your eye we knew mister Petey which was a name that so did not suit you you was the one, the perfect little guy Once home we knew we had made no mistake you fit with us perfectly but Petey just did not take Grandpooh shows up and with just one look that's no Petey ....You are a Winston And so Winston took You brought me so many smiles and hope in a time of sadness. You helped me accept what may not be and listened ... really listened in gladness We found you in October and the following October were blessed with a child of our own. You loved that new baby lying by his bassinet and nudging me whenever he made a sound You gently took French fries from his little 2 yo hands and let him pet, pull and ride you with never a grumble or a shout You protected us from danger standing guard at the door always watching out even between snores Your grunts and snorts sound mysteriously like my mamma My best friend and the best dog ever you have been Anyone that meets you falls in love and wants to see you again And now this week I have to say goodbye Many say you're just a dog but they just don't understand why Mister Winston Woo I thank you for all the wonderful years and things you have done to make this family whole! There will never be another dog, companion, friend as perfect as you and may God Bess your soul I promise I will be with you till the very end .... you deserve only the best my true best friend
