You came into our lives for 16 short years
now all we have are broken hearts and many, many tears

We think about the memories from years past
when you were young, strong, and ran so fast

You loved belly rubs,lawn mower rides,and fishing off the dock
garden beans in the summer and snuggling around the clock

Ruby, Rubster, Ruber, you had so many names
but no matter what we called you, you loved us just the same

Then before we knew it, the years had flown by
and all of a sudden, we're saying goodbye

Your favorite bed is empty now where you would lie and sleep
but the memories of all the happy times is ours to always keep

We wish we had you back again to fill the empty space
but one day we'll be together in a far far better place
