Memories of Pepper
Pepper was the most intelligent and playful Maine Coon cat I've ever shared my life with. She constantly amused me with her antics.

Her behavior was more dog like than pure cat. This is typical of the breed. Pepper loved to greet us at the front door and would also bid us goodbye when leaving. for work. Even if she was asleep, once Pepper heard the words, "I'm leaving", she would run over to one of her scratch lounge pads and show off. She wanted to be petted.

Pepper would always let me know when she wanted to be fed or combed. Her vocalized meows could be heard throughout the house. On one occasion I was combing Pepper and didn't stop when she insisted I do so. Pepper shocked me by smacking me in the head with her paw. It didn't hurt but Pepper surprised me with her power and force.

One of my favorite memories of this gorgeous girl was while I was working on my computer. Both Pepper and I were in the bedroom with the door closed. Pepper got antsy and wanted to leave the room. I wasn't able to immediately open the door for her, so Pepper stood up on top of my air purifier and reached the door handle. Within a minute, Pepper had pressed down on the door handle with her two front paws, opened the door, and walked out of the room.

Pepper passed away at home with the help of a caring and compassionate vet while she was held in my arms. Her passing was as gentle as possible.

Pepper died only 5 days after her brother/littermate, Chili. Both fur babies were a part of my life and remain in my heart. A decade with Pepper and Chili was not enough. 🐾💗🌈🐱
